China-based LongCheer Technology, a global technology business with headquarters in Shanghai, plans to invest approximately RM500 million in Johor, a move which is anticipated to generate 200 highly skilled job opportunities.

The matter was discussed during an official visit by Johor government members to Shanghai, according to Lee Ting Han, chairman of the State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Human Resources Committee.

He said that the company, which was founded in 2002, is among the top producers and designers of electronic products worldwide and has created a number of smart devices with global brands.

In a Facebook post, Lee stated, “Although LongCheer Technology may not be well known to the public, the fact is that the technology they develop is widely used throughout the world.”

According to Lee, the company develops wearable technology, smart glasses, mixed-reality devices, cellphones, and computers with artificial intelligence.

He said the meeting emphasised Johor’s position as a key location for high-tech investment in the area and concentrated on the possibility of long-term cooperation.

According to Lee, the investment will support Johor’s goal of developing into a high-income state centered on value-added companies, particularly in the fields of electronics, digital, and smart technology.

“We are on the right track to attract more quality investments like this with Johor’s strategic position and the support of initiatives like the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone,” he stated.

This move is in line with Johor’s objective of developing into a high-income state powered by value-added sectors including smart manufacturing, digital technology, and AI. By utilising the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), the investment makes the state a desirable “plus-one” location for multinational corporations seeking to diversify their supply chains.
