Genting Simon celebrates 15 years of Simon Premium Outlets in Malaysia and has announced the next phase of the expansion of Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, the latest investment in Genting Simon’s portfolio in Southeast Asia.
Genting Simon introduced the Premium Outlets concept to Southeast Asia with the opening of Johor Premium Outlets in 2011, followed by expansions in 2013 and 2018. Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, Southeast Asia’s first hilltop Premium Outlet, opened in 2017, followed by Jakarta Premium Outlets in Indonesia in 2025.
Today, Genting Simon operates three Premium Outlets across Malaysia and Indonesia, each featuring approximately 150 designer and name-brand outlet stores and offering shoppers a distinctive combination of leading brands, value and experiences.
The next chapter for the portfolio includes the expansion of Genting Highlands Premium Outlets. Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027, the project will add approximately 70,000 square feet to the Outlets’ existing 300,000-square-foot footprint, further enhancing its tenant mix and overall retail offering.
The expansion will also enhance visitor experience with additional parking, a redesigned Genting Lounge and dedicated prayer and baby care rooms, providing greater comfort and convenience.
The 15th anniversary celebration was held at Johor Premium Outlets and graced by Pannir Selvam A/L Paliksina Siwalinggam, chairman of the Johor State Unity, Heritage and Culture Committee. Also present were representatives from Genting Simon, government agencies and ministries, business partners, members of the media, and brand partners.
“When we introduced the Premium Outlets concept in Johor in 2011, our vision was to create a distinctive shopping destination that brings together world-class brands, exceptional value and memorable experiences for shoppers. Fifteen years on, we are proud to have grown into a regional portfolio spanning Malaysia and Indonesia, demonstrating the continued relevance of the Premium Outlets model in this region,” said Dato’ Indera Lim Keong Hui, Chief Executive and Executive Director of Genting Plantations Berhad.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we are equally focused on the future. The expansion of Genting Highlands Premium Outlets reflects our confidence in the long-term potential of the Premium Outlets model and the demand from both shoppers and brand partners. It will enable us to expand our retail offering and create further growth opportunities for our brand partners,” he added.
“This milestone reflects the strength of our partnership with Genting and our shared confidence in the long-term growth of Premium Outlets in Southeast Asia. We are proud of what we have achieved together and look forward to continuing this successful partnership,” said Stanley Shashoua, President of International Real Estate, Simon Property Group.
“Johor Premium Outlets has become a key pillar of Johor’s retail and tourism ecosystem and stands as a successful example of the Iskandar Malaysia vision in action. As Johor advances its economic transformation through initiatives such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), destinations like Johor Premium Outlets will continue to strengthen the state’s attractiveness to visitors, investors and businesses alike,” said Pannir Selvam, chairman of the Johor State Unity, Heritage and Culture Committee.
In celebration of the 15th anniversary, Johor Premium Outlets and Genting Highlands Premium Outlets will host four days of special programme from 10th – 13th September 2026.
The celebration will feature savings of up to 80% at participating luxury and designer brands, customer activities and anniversary experiences, including the “Shop More! Win Bigger!” campaign offering RM100,000 in rewards.
