Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri (MBIP), together with Datuk Pandak Ahmad, State Assemblyman for Kota Iskandar, organised a follow-up Townhall on 7th April 2026 with all respected parties involved in the development of the data centre park in Nusajaya 2 Industrial Park, Gelang Patah, Johor.

This follows the first Townhall held on 12th February, where Datuk Pandak received feedback about dust pollution from residents living near the data centre site. The affected areas include Taman Nusantara Prima, Taman Nusa Bayu and Bayu Angkasa Apartment.

“I had instructed the master developer, Tropicana Firstwide Sdn Bhd, to enhance efforts to mitigate the dust pollution, as well as to step up CSR initiatives for the affected communities,” he said.

Tropicana Firstwide informed that dust pollution generated primarily from the earthworks and slope stabilisation works will be reduced significantly, as their works are expected to be completed by the end of April.

Tropicana Firstwide presented RM20,000 each to four resident associations, namely Bayu Angkasa Apartment Residents Association, Nusabayu Residents Association, Nusantara Prima Residents Association and RMMJ Residents Association. The funds will help offset residents’ claims for issues caused by the dust pollution, such as medical bills and increased cost of house cleaning and laundry. Each resident association will administer and dispense the funds at its own discretion.

Tropicana Firstwide also committed to another free car wash for residents at Taman Nusa Bayu. An existing free car wash is already operating in Taman Nusantara Prima.

“In any development, the rakyat’s wellbeing will always come first. I will continue to engage with the local community and work with MBIP, government agencies and other stakeholders for the betterment of the people of Iskandar Puteri and the state of Johor,” said Pandak.

Also present at this Townhall were MBIP mayor Hasrin Kamal Hashim, officers from MBIP, Department of Environment (DOE), Syarikat Air Johor and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, as well as representatives of the master developer Tropicana Firstwide Sdn Bhd, and representatives from ZDATA Technologies.

Approximately 50 residents attended this Townhall, including Abdul Rahman Halim, Village Head of Kampung Pulai Gelang Patah, and Ramli Paiman, Chairman of the Residents’ Action Committee on the Data Centre.
