
A total of RM20 million has been allocated to the Skills4Johor Programme, which is the primary focus of efforts to strengthen skills and develop the state’s workforce.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan stated that the programme demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing a highly skilled workforce to meet current industry demands, along with economic expansion and increased investment, particularly in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
According to him, over the last year, 13,425 employers have registered with HRD Corp, and 479,905 employees have benefited from various training programmes.
During the same period, HRD Corp collected RM208.21 million in levies, while RM183.96 million was returned to employers for employee training.
“In addition, RM191.5 million in financial assistance has been channelled, and 232,072 Johor residents have received training,” he said during the HRD Corp Pocket Talk Tour Series in Star Hill Golf & Country Club, Kempas, Johor Darul Ta’zim.
Meanwhile, he stated that the Human Resources Ministry is also focusing on the development of gig workers through various skill improvement initiatives.
“Among these initiatives are the Economic Resilience Package worth RM710 million and the MyMahir AI Programme, which allocates RM110 million for free AI training to 22,000 residents,” he said.
