Blockchain Technology in Malaysia 2019 was held at Fraser Place Puteri Harbour, Iskandar Puteri Johor with the tagline of Adapting Business and Industries organised by OK Blockchain Centre (OBC) and co-hosted by i2M Ventures, a Khazanah Nasional Bhd subsidiary and BlockOn, a Singapore-based blockchain venture capital firm.

The event was graced by the CEO of OK Blockchain Centre, Gen Matsuda who is also the President and CEO of OKWAVE Japan. The event featured five influential speakers and panellists coming from Malaysia, Singapore and Japan.

Abdul Fattah Mohamed Yatim, Chairman of Malaysia’s National Standards Committee on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies, Department of Standards Asia

First speaker, Abdul Fattah Mohamed Yatim, Chairman of Malaysia’s National Standards Committee speaking about development of ISO standards of blockchain involving various countries worldwide. Kazutaka Mori, Head of Fintech & ICO team from One Asia Lawyers, Singapore provided input on Malaysia’s Position in Asia’s Crypto Regulation. OBC’s research partner UTM, led by Prof. Dr. Kamarulnizam Abu Bakar, Chairman of the Smart Digital Community Research Alliance, shared their findings on the OBC-UTM shariah-based digital currency studies as presented in 4th International Halal Conference 2019, in Osaka Japan on 22nd-23rd April 2019.

Salina Muhammad Zain Senior Vice President & Head of Partners & Stakeholders Engagement Project Management and Corporate Services Units of i2M Ventures, presented a comprehensive package of incentives and support for existing and future stakeholders in Iskandar Puteri, specifically expressing interest in human capital building for blockchain technology.

Gen Matsuda, also introduced to the floor about his OKWAVE Thanks Economy that involves using blockchain in relaying gratitude over the kindness, a concept he wants to seam into this high-tech, and modern community that is caring and loving.

OBC has proven the success of blockchain development and demonstrated ways to move forward in businesses and industries to adapt into blockchain bandwagon with the aim to nurture more than 100 programmers by end of 2019.
