UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) a property developer company, asset management, facilities and hospitality held a Hari Raya celebration with senior citizens in Johor Bahru through the ‘Meriah Raya’ open house event at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.

UDA through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, UDA Cares Enriching Life, had distributed zakat donations to 40 senior citizens from the Nur Ehsan Elderly Care Centre, Johor Bahru where each received RM200 and cookies. The ceremony for the southern region was also attended by staff and corporate customers of Angsana Johor Bahru Mall and UDA Land South Sdn Bhd.

Speaking at the ceremony, Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim, Chairman of UDA said, “Hopefully this small contribution had made their Hari Raya celebration more meaningful and brought (them) smiles. UDA through the UDA Cares CSR programme always takes positive steps to reach out to the needy, especially for meaningful celebrations like Hari Raya. This initiative is also expected to further strengthen UDA’s relationship with the local community.

“Every year, UDA focuses on innovative ways to diversify UDA Cares’ activities in order to support and benefit more local communities. This UDA Cares effort aligns with UDA’s new branding concept of ‘LIFE,’ which emphasises attributes like Legacy, Integrated, Finesse, and Enrich,” she said.

Also present at the Meriah Raya Ceremony was Mohd. Salem Kailany President/Chief Executive Officer of UDA and senior management of UDA. Representatives from the state government departments and agencies, corporate organisations, the private sector, customers and tenants at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall, and representatives from UDA Land South Sdn Bhd were among the 2,000 invitees.

Mohd. Salem said, “UDA would like to thank the Johor state government and the federal government on behalf of Angsana Johor Bahru Mall for their efforts to allow cross-border activities to begin on the 1st of April. With visits from Singaporeans, this move has indirectly enhanced economic operations at retail malls in the state of Johor, like Angsana Johor Bahru Mall. This decision was also made in a timely fashion since the people were getting ready to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“To date, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall has been able to maintain a good occupancy rate of 94% in April 2022. This is a positive sign/result for the current shopping mall business sector,” he said.

To revitalise the operation of Angsana Johor Bahru Mall, UDA took the initiative to diversify events to attract more visitors throughout the year.

Among the ongoing activities is the ‘Euro Fun Park’ at Padang Begonia (next to Angsana Johor Bahru Mall) which will end on the 19th of June 2022. In addition, the long-awaited events such as the ‘Bridal Fair’ and the ‘Malaysian Cooperative Day Celebration – 100 years’ are also expected to be held next month.
