School bus operators nationwide have been urged to update their drivers’ information through the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) portal to ensure they receive the RM1,000 special financial assistance ahead of Deepavali.
APAD said the move followed the Prime Minister’s directive for the assistance to be distributed before the festival, with payments scheduled to begin in stages from 22nd October 2026.
School bus owners and operators must update their drivers’ details between 16th and 30th October 2026 to help the authorities check eligibility and ensure the money reaches the right recipients.
The agency said the decision was made after discussions with the Federation of School Bus Associations Malaysia and the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor School Bus Operators Association.
As part of the verification process, APAD will cross-check drivers’ records with the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) and the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
The checks will include the validity of driving licences and Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licences to ensure that drivers meet the requirements for the assistance.
Operators are required to provide their drivers’ latest names and addresses, telephone numbers, valid driving licence details, PSV licence information and bank account numbers for payment purposes.
The information can be updated through the official APAD portal at https://bantuanpemandu.mot.gov.my/bas-sekolah
APAD reminded operators to ensure that all details submitted were complete, accurate and up to date to avoid delays in the verification and payment process.
The agency also stressed that the cooperation of school bus operators was important to ensure eligible drivers received the assistance smoothly.
APAD said it would continue working with relevant government agencies and industry representatives to ensure the initiative was carried out effectively.
The financial assistance is part of the government’s efforts to support school bus drivers and ease the burden on those working in the public transport sector under the MADANI Government’s initiatives.
