A total of 36 Johor candidates for the 2025 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) achieved excellent results, scoring A+ in all subjects.
Ali @ Zainalabidin Syed Mohamed, Acting Director of Johor State Education, said that there were five fewer candidates than the 41 students who achieved the same results in SPM 2024.
According to him, 1,573 candidates, or 3.73%, received A+, A, and A- grades, up from 1,472 the previous year.
“A total of 4,405 candidates obtained at least a minimum grade of B, while 7,128 candidates obtained at least a grade of C. Furthermore, 40,121 candidates, or 95%, were eligible to be awarded certificates,” he said at a press conference at the Johor State Education Department here on Tuesday.
He added that the Johor State Average Grade (GPN) for SPM 2025 increased to 4.28 points from 4.36 points the previous year, surpassing the National Average Grade (GPK) of 4.42 points.
Sinar Harian also reported that he said that 81 out of 276 schools in Johor had 100% pass rates; this includes 70 Orang Asli students.
“Overall performance improved in 45 of the 80 subjects, while 31 decreased and four remained unchanged,” he said.
He also congratulated the outstanding candidates and encouraged the less successful students to persevere and strive for success.
