China’s Longda Group has invested RM900 million in Johor, which will support the state’s aerospace industry and generate more than 300 highly trained employment.
The declaration comes after Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi visited Longda’s Jiangsu, China, operations recently.
Onn Hafiz met with Pu Yilong, the Chairman and CEO of Longda, during the visit to finalise project schedules and discuss about long-term growth strategies within Johor’s industrial ecosystem. This investment shows that Johor is still seen as a desirable location for high-tech enterprises. The project will cultivate local talent in innovative manufacturing and create high-value jobs.
For both commercial and defence applications, Longda specialises in high-purity superalloys utilised in the hot areas of aircraft engines.
Technology transfer and skill development for local workers will be supported by its research and development infrastructure, which includes post-doctoral facilities, technology centres, and institutes for high-temperature alloys.
Longda and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia will collaborate to create a specialised training programme as part of the investment.
On 2nd March 2026, seven of the thirty Johor graduates who were chosen will go to Longda’s China headquarters for industrial training, marking the start of the first phase.
In 2027, the remaining batch will arrive.
According to Onn Hafiz, the project enhances Johor’s position in the high-tech industrial ecosystem of the area and helps the state’s long-term plan to draw in advanced manufacturing firms.
