The need for dependable and sustainable utility infrastructure to support the state’s long-term economic growth and resource resilience is growing as data centres and other high-value investments become more prevalent in Johor.
The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) recently arranged a Knowledge Sharing Session with Johor Special Water (JSW) in response to these new demands, with an emphasis on resource management and sustainable water strategies for Iskandar Malaysia and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
The session featured insights from Haji Mohd Riduan bin Md. Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Syarikat Air Johor Sdn Bhd and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Johor Special Water, who shared perspectives on alternative water strategies, reclaimed wastewater and circular water solutions.
The discussion also highlighted the potential role of these approaches in supporting the rapidly growing data centre industry, where a reliable and sustainable water supply is an increasingly important component of infrastructure planning.
Haji Natazha bin Hariss, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Johor. Was also present at the session. His participation underscored the importance of integrating infrastructure readiness and resource planning with Johor’s investment and economic development agenda.
The knowledge-sharing session reflects the importance of strengthening collaboration among government agencies, utility providers and industry stakeholders in addressing emerging resource requirements.
Such cooperation will be important in developing a more resilient and sustainable infrastructure ecosystem capable of supporting continued investment and the next phase of economic growth in Iskandar Malaysia and the JS-SEZ.
