The Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) has announced that no parking charges will be imposed on road users throughout the local authority’s (PBT) administrative area this month.
Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, chairman of the Johor Housing and Local Government Committee, stated that the free parking was set up to allow the public to download the new parking system application, Parkmax@JOHOR.
He stated that the application that will replace the MBJBSpot system will be fully operational beginning 1st June 2026.
“MBJBSpot users who still have credit balances, may make claims or credit updates online or at the MBJB counter until 31st May 2026.”
He then said MBJB guarantees that the existing credit balances in all MBJBSpot’s accounts will not be affected and that the migration will be completed in stages.
“The implementation of this new system is part of an effort to standardise the digital parking system throughout the state.’
“This issue has been delayed for twelve years because each PBT has a different parking system, which causes confusion among the people,” he said at the State Legislative Assembly’s (DUN) closing session in Kota Iskandar.
According to Mohd Jafni, the six PBTs that have adopted the Parkmax@JOHOR system are Iskandar Puteri City Council, Kulai Municipal Council, Muar Municipal Council, Segamat Municipal Council, Tangkak District Council, and Mersing District Council.
