JDA 2019 to appreciate the interior designers’ profession from all over Malaysia

A continuation from its initial JIDA Design Awards (JDA) back in 2017 covering mainly Johor’s interior designers, Johor Interior Designer Association (JIDA) moved further up by taking participants nationwide for its second ceremony happening on 17th May, 2019, Friday, at Austin International Convention Center (AICC) as a full day event with Interior Design Forum featuring the judges from 10am to 3pm, followed by the Gala Night and Awards Ceremony at 6.30pm.

Ahead of the gala, Top 5 nominees for 8 categories were announced in a press conference by Dr. Eric Leong as the Chief Judge of JDA 2019 with the presence of President of JIDA, Law Kee Kiau, hosted by JDA 2019 Organising Chairlady, Lim So En, President of JBCCCI, Low Kueck Shin, President of JBFA, Ng Chien Hsiang, representative of Johor REHDA Chairman, Campus Dean of Raffles University Iskandar, Dr. Tan Wee Chuen and Title Sponsor Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn Bhd’s representative, Edwin Chai.

Judges line-up are led by Dr. Eric Leong, Head of Interior Architecture & Design School, Chris Bosse, Co-Founder of Laboratory for Visionary Architecture, Horace Pan, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Interior Design Association, Tan Su Cheng, Managing Partner of PDI Design & Association, Ar. Yap Yew Peng, Director of y. Architects. Peter Tay, Founder and Design Director of Peter Studio in Singapore.

The award objective is to recognise the hard work of interior designers all around Malaysia, bringing the people behind interior designing together while also noting young and new talent in the industry. In the span of 3 months, JDA has received 267 submissions on all categories combined from all over Malaysia.

Newly minted Menteri Besar Johor Dato’ Dr Sahruddin Jamal would be the guest of honour of the awards ceremony together with Liow Cai Tung, Exco of Tourism and Women, Family and Community Development.
