The public may now enjoy unlimited rides for as little as RM1 per day by purchasing the BAS.MY 30-day Unlimited Travel pass for stage buses nationwide for just RM30 per month instead of RM50.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has said that the price reduction, which goes into effect right away, can help people save between RM200 and RM300 a month in addition to lowering their cost of living.

With an average monthly ridership of 940,000 this year, he claimed that the Johor Bahru Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme has seen the most passengers in the nation since its launch in 2022.

“There are now 21 routes covered by BAS.MY in Johor Bahru, three more than the previous 18 routes. To guarantee that the SBST services in Johor Bahru continue to benefit the people, the Federal Government will invest RM134.94 million for two years, or RM67.47 million annually.

“The Johor Bahru BAS.MY operators are encouraged to increase their efforts to reach a monthly average of one million passengers with sustained government support.

Only Malaysians are eligible for this initiative; non-citizens will still be required to pay the full fare. He stated at a press conference following the Johor Bahru BAS.MY Stage Bus Service Transformation Programme’s launch at Sutera Mall here today that the pass price reduction will also be extended to all states with BAS.MY services so that more people can benefit from the same advantages.

Additionally, he stated that by the end of this year, Johor Bahru would implement the new service, BAS.MY Medik, which uses a special van to transport wheelchair users, dialysis patients, and people with disabilities.

He continued by saying that this on-demand service is one of the requirements placed on bus service providers to guarantee that those in need can also take advantage of the mobility amenities.

“There will be two vans available, and they have been modified to accommodate patients with disabilities and wheelchair users. These vans will pick up the patients from their house and take them to the dialysis centre, hospital or clinic,” he said.

He also mentioned that reservations for the service can be made over the phone or through mobile applications.

Anthony stated that the fares for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link have not yet been set and will soon be finalised in conjunction with the operator. Anthony will be visiting the RTS project site today to assess the progress and make sure construction work is moving forward as planned.

“We need this visit to better understand the implementation’s status and take early action, if necessary,” he added.
