St Giles Southkey, a fairly new hotel in town has inaugurated a buka puasa buffet, ‘Citarasa Warisan Johor’ (Taste of Johor) at its Causeway Cafe, Level 6.
For Johoreans’ love of lamb, the aromatic ‘Arabic Roasted Spice Whole Lamb’ served on a bed of generous, Middle-East inspired rice is enough to fill over 100 guests at one time which would definitely meet the expectations of a good fast-breaking meal.
Next, no natives to Johor could resist the allure of ‘Asam Pedas Ikan Tenggiri,; the balance
of the key taste – the level of sourness and spice complete with the fresh Mackerel in the boiling pot made my plate so hearty beyond my expectations! If asam pedas is not your thing, do pair your rice with the ‘Northern style Fish Head Curry’.
Of course I had to then get some Gado-Gado, picking my condiments like tempe, tofu and cucumber mixed in kuah kacang to complete the Johorean experience. Meanwhile, my friend enjoyed the Bubur Lambuk, a classic must have dish during the fasting month.
Adventurous Johorean would be delighted to pick up the long lines of Sushis and Sashimis, plus the steaming hot Dim Sums fresh from the bamboo trays.
I concluded my fast-breaking simulation meals with choices of cut fruits, whole slice of cakes, Kuih Raya from the jars and jelly puddings of different flavours. My favourite had to be the nostalgic Milo Chocolate Jelly which transported me back to the days but with a slight twist.
If you are into dining right after a shopping spree seamlessly, this is the perfect location for you.
