Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah celebrated Hari Raya with Johor Cerebral Palsy Association (CPJ)’s students, members and staff. She was accompanied by Her Highness Che’ Puan Khaleeda binti Bustamam, the wife of His Royal Highness Major General Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim, the Crown Prince of Johor.
Also in attendance were Khairin Nisa Ismail, state chairwoman of the Women, Family and Community Development Committee and Norliza Noh, state chairwoman of Education, Information and Communication.
35 students of the special needs school with 17 vocational workshop apprentices under CPJ received duit raya courtesy of Her Majesty and Her Highness during the celebration.
Tunku Fatimah Faridah Tunku Tan Sri Osman, chairwoman of CPJ in her welcoming speech expressed the association’s gratitude to Her Majesty who was the Royal Patron for 34 years from 1986 to 2020. She then made another gratitude remark to Her Highness Che’ Puan Besar Khaleeda who was now appointed as the new Royal Patron the day before.
Tunku Fatimah also addressed the contribution of Friends of Cerebral Palsy Johor who managed to materialise aid through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project with corporations and organisations that included Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation, PUSPANITA Johor, KPRJ and Marrybrown Sdn Bhd.
Johor Cerebral Palsy Association specialises in educating, training, treating and providing special needs for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Among notable figures hailed from the association was Chan Wei Lun, a silver medalist in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
Cerebral palsy is the most common childhood physical disability, with those affected needing intensive therapy and education from a young age. The association relies on the generosity of its community to support its mission and programmes to create a world without limits for people with disabilities.
Donations made of RM50 and above to the association are tax exempted by the Inland Revenue Department. All contributions may be wired to Persatuan Cerebral Palsy Johor’s Maybank account, 501011990533.
