As the holy month of fasting is approaching, so does the buffet from your favourite hotels around. Staying true to their name, I came to have a taste and was greeted by Malay evergreen songs performed live.
It did not take me long before I was mesmerised by the Whole Balinese Marinated Lamb at their carving station, and I was told that only certain chefs can carve the lamb to the perfect piece for your plate.
The lamb is definitely a great company for their Briyani Gam Johor that is rich in flavour and the lamb dish is just as delectable. In short, lamb enthusiasts would be elated by what is offered.
Just right beside it is a Fusion Pasta Station where a specialised chef would help you cook the perfect pasta of your choice. My friend requested ‘petai’ or stinky beans in her Cream Sauce Linguine and it was surprisingly good! This is great for those that are looking for something that is out of the ordinary and personalised.
Missing the taste of the east coast of the peninsular? The Laksam was made with so much care that every bite feels like I’m inching closer to the land of ‘Cradle of Malay’ culture, and remember to top the vegetables with the sweet and spicy sambal to complete the experience!
To wrap up my buka puasa journey, I had the warm and comforting traditional Durian gravy or Serawa Durian with glutinous rice that feels so much at home with your extended family. If you are not a fan of the fruit’s royalty, have a taste of their refreshing jeruk and mango sticky rice. There are plenty of pastries too that are made fresh from Amari Johor Bahru’s very own kitchen.
