Building on the success of its debut as organiser last year, Yayasan JCorp once again partnered with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ) to deliver the Johor State Level English Language Carnival 2025.

The two-day programme, held on the 3rd and 4th of September 2025 at the Raja Zarith Sofiah Library, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, brought together 250 students from 11 districts to compete in Scrabble, Dare to Spell, poetry recitation, public speaking, storytelling, and mini documentary. It was a celebration not only of linguistic skill but also of creativity, cultural expression, and critical thinking.

Zaidatul Zurita Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan JCorp, described the carnival as a powerful catalyst for student growth.

“This is more than a competition. It is a launchpad for Johor’s young voices who can influence, inspire and lead in any arena from the classroom to the global stage.”

For 2025, the carnival’s Mini Documentary challenge encouraged students to tackle real-life themes from environmental stewardship to preserving cultural heritage using English as the medium for impactful storytelling.

“When students use English to share their ideas on the environment, culture or community, they are doing more than practising a language. They are shaping narratives that have the power to change perspectives,” said Zaidatul.

She also highlighted the confidence-building value of the event, especially for first-time performers.

“Confidence is the passport to opportunity. If our youth can stand here and speak with courage, they can stand anywhere in the world.”

Yayasan JCorp positions the English Language Carnival as one of its flagship initiatives under the Education Pillar, standing alongside programmes such as choral speaking competitions and the development of SPM English modules with tuition projects for rural and urban schools. The carnival reflects the foundation’s long-term commitment to nurturing language proficiency, creativity and self-confidence among Johor’s youth.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Haji Mohd Hanafi bin Samad, Director of the Johor State Education Department.

The champions will go on to represent Johor in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, with Johor proudly serving as the host for the National Language Unity Carnival this year. Every participant received a certificate of participation, affirming Yayasan JCorp’s belief that every student who dares to step forward is already a winner.
