Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, nestled in lush tropical gardens on golden Malaysian shores, is excited to announce the start of its on-site water bottling plant. As of 15th November 2022, the resort began to stir away from the use of plastic bottles and make way towards a sustainable future. The water bottling plant was built in accordance with the specifications placed by the Ministry of Health and Eco Pure Waters Company Ltd. in Thailand. Eco Pure Waters is the leader in the production of drinking water systems and is the approved vendor for Anantara hotels, Resorts & Spas.

The team at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and environmental impact by creating small yet impactful moves such as:

  • Placing four, one litre glass bottles in each room, villa and residence
  • Offering 500ml water bottles in banquets and events
  • Using rainwater to water plants and harvesting vegetables at the resort’s Herbs Garden.
  • Organise monthly beach clean ups to collect trash swept ashore from going back into the ocean

“It is crucial that all businesses and individuals create more efforts to reduce carbon footprint for the wellbeing of Mother Earth,” said Christian Gerart, General Manager of Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas. “There is a shocking number of 8 million metric tons of plastic that end up in the ocean and as we are located on the pristine Desaru Coast, it is crucial that we set a great example by keeping our beach clean.
