Under an RM125 million initiative by the Johor State Government aimed at easing the rising cost of living this Ramadan, more than 9,000 residents in Simpang Renggam, Johor is set to receive direct cash assistance.

Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the allocation, which covers 29 recipient categories statewide, underscores the state’s commitment to ensuring residents can observe the holy with a peace of mind.

A total of 9,414 residents will benefit from the programme including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, single mothers, orphans, university students, retired armed forces and police personnel, taxi and e-hailing drivers, farmers, fishermen and support workers.

Onn Hafiz said the state has adopted a grassroots approach to ensure the aid is delivered transparently, directly and to those most in need.

The initiative is part of the broader Bantuan Bangsa Johor welfare programme, which provides financial and in-kind support to various segments of society. The distribution is being carried out in stages throughout Ramadan as part of Johor’s wider social protection agenda.
