Vaccination locations through the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) is now being expanded and KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital (KPJ Johor) is one of the private hospitals selected by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), to be a COVID-19 vaccination centre for Malaysians, especially around Johor Bahru.
The implementation of vaccination at KPJ Johor is expected to be able to provide 200 doses of vaccination a day as well as realising the government’s efforts in increasing the number of COVID-19 vaccination recipients to 150,000 injections a day for the next two months.
All appointments for COVID-19 vaccination recipients will be issued by MOH through the registration of the MySejahtera application. Over 100 trained KPJ Johor health staff will be stationed at this centre to help the vaccination process run smoothly with strict compliance by the MOH.
Officers were given a thorough briefing on the management of COVID-19 vaccine administration in addition to having experience in performing the vaccination process to frontline staff at the hospital before.
“We are honoured to have been selected as one of the vaccination centres for our frontline personnel. It is part of our contribution to the country in achieving the target to keep Malaysia Safe from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mohd Azhar Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of KPJ Johor.
The MOH will determine which type of COVID-19 vaccine the recipients would receive at KPJ Johor.
Cooperation between the private and public sectors is very important in order to give confidence to the people on the COVID-19 vaccination. He further supports the government’s recommendation to ensure that 80% of the country’s entire population is vaccinated under the National Immunisation Plan to fight COVID-19 disease.
He also said that vaccinations in private hospitals have not been offered for a fee yet and advised the public to not line up and “raid” the private hospitals to get the COVID-19 vaccine injection slots.
The procedure and process of obtaining vaccines at the private hospitals remain the same as government hospitals or other community centres, i.e. registration is still done through the MySejahtera application for eligible individuals.
To date, more than 95% of KPJ Johor staffs have received 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine since the NIP that started in March 2021.
