The year 2021 is proving to be a year of advancement for Sunway City Iskandar Puteri and NEC Corporation of Malaysia Sdn Bhd (NEC Malaysia), with NEC Malaysia gearing to support Malaysia’s digital economy with a new contact centre in Sunway Big Box Office Tower.
Growing its footprint from Singapore to the Southern Region of Malaysia, NEC Malaysia’s Innovation Centre of Excellence (CoE) is temporarily located at Sunway Citrine Hub in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, Johor, while awaiting the completion of Sunway Big Box Office Tower to relocate its managed services and contact centre operations for their customers in SEA region in January 2023.
Mr Gerard Soosay, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway City Iskandar Puteri shared that the tenancy agreement between the developer and NEC Malaysia enables them to benefit the society further in terms of providing job opportunities for Malaysians within the integrated township itself, and at the same time contributing to the economic growth of the emerging self-sustaining township.
“We are pleased that NEC has chosen Sunway Big Box Office Tower as their preferred location to set up their first regional contact centre here in Malaysia. With the expansion of NEC Malaysia to Johor, we are confident that they will be able to reach out to the customers in SEA region to provide them with more efficient services with its cutting-edge customer experience,” said Mr Gerard.
“Sunway City Iskandar Puteri as a fast-growing city with sustainability at its core, is the ideal platform for us to expand our smart city solutions and achieve sustainable development in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. We are looking forward to developing innovative core digital technologies and services that delivers greater social value for a better future,” said Chong Kai Wooi, Managing Director of NEC Malaysia.
“Our new CoE in Sunway Big Box Office Tower, focusing on managed services and solutions for smart cities, will also help develop and equip local talents with the necessary skills to succeed in this new normal. Through our CoE and our world-leading solutions, we want to help Malaysia in its transformation to an inclusive, digital nation,” added Mr Chong.
Located at Sunway’s first large format retail park, NEC Malaysia will occupy the entire Level 2 of the 12-storey office tower, with approximately 20,474 sq ft gross floor area and a nett floor area of approximately 17,050 sq ft. The Sunway Big Box Office Tower is expected to complete its development by Q2 2022, allowing NEC Malaysia to start fresh in January 2023.
“We are confident that Sunway Big Box Office Tower will earn a strong reputation for its quality offering, and with NEC Malaysia coming into Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, this proved that our township is not merely built for homes, but it is a township that has the strong potential to grow as a smarter society – a township that is well-positioned and developed to house local and international organisations,” said Mr Gerard.
Being the next smart sustainable city in Johor, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri will not only aid NEC Malaysia in enhancing its corporate image but also integrate sustainability within the corporation. Additionally, featuring quick access to public infrastructure to ensure hassle-free transit, the township is located just 5km away from the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link via the Coastal Highway Southern Link (CHSL), provides bus services from Johor to Singapore, SoCar and Iskandar Puteri shuttle bus services that will allow hassle-free travel for those having to travel to Sunway City Iskandar Puteri regularly.
Not only is the township’s infrastructure planned strategically, the developer also offers a wide-range of amenities including XPark Sunway City Iskandar Puteri (one of the largest extreme and adventure parks in Malaysia), an education hub for working adults with children, convenient stores and many more, while ensuring the safety of its community with round-the-clock security services.
“Being an integrated and sustainable township, we are here to cater to the needs of our people and that includes the availability of various facilities to ensure a work-life balance. We believe this will bring harmony and further build a relationship within the corporation. Tenants will have ample to look forward to, from several food and beverage outlets to try out, leisure and sports activities for team building, and our soon-to-open Sunway Hotel Big Box to accommodate business partners and more.
“Back in 2018, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NEC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd to enhance the township’s safety and security which included biometrics and video analytics. Today, we’re thankful and happy to see the team expanding in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri. We have more to accomplish together as partners and hope to bring in new innovations together to develop the community and Malaysia itself,” concluded Gerard.
