Southern University College Celebrates 34th Convocation Ceremony with 612 Graduates

Southern University College proudly held its 34th Convocation Ceremony on 12th July 2025, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of 612 graduates. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Steven Sim Chee Keong, the Minister of Human Resources (Malaysia), Marina binti Ibrahim, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Johor (Skudai), along with esteemed community leaders. Together, they witnessed the proud and joyful moments of the graduates and extended their heartfelt congratulations and blessings.

This year’s convocation celebrated the achievements of 4 PhD holders, 5 Master’s graduates, and 603 graduates from degree, diploma, and other academic programmes.

A notable highlight of the ceremony was 85-year-old Wang Toon Jui, Senior Advisor to the Johor Chinese community and former Chairman of the Board of Governors of Southern University College. He received his PhD, setting a new record as the oldest graduate in the university’s history, embodying the spirit of lifelong learning and academic perseverance.

In his address, Mok Chek Hou, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Southern University College, encouraged all graduates to be inspired by Dr. Wang Toon Jui’s example and embracing the value of continuous learning regardless of age.

In support of education, Steven Sim generously donated RM50,000.00 to Southern University College. He also encouraged graduates to work hard, create value, and strive not only to enhance employability but also to become pillars of Malaysia’s future development.
