The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) through the Women’s Development Department (JPW) organised the “Women’s Inspiration Programme: Secure. Lead. Transform” which is a government initiative in an effort to strengthen the role of women as leaders, protectors and drivers of national transformation, was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.
The programme, which brings together various levels of women from the government, private and civil society sectors, aims to inspire, empower leadership potential and support women’s safety and well-being in line with the implementation of the National Women’s Policy and the Women’s Development Action Plan 2025–2030.
In her speech, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad underlined the theme of the “Secure.Lead.Transform” initiative as a call to build confidence, broaden women’s leadership space, and empower women’s responsibilities as change agents in a variety of domains, including the economy, social, digital, and national security.
“Women who are guaranteed their safety will be more courageous to lead. Women who lead will create a more peaceful, just and equitable future,” she said.
She also cited government initiatives such as the National Women, Peace, and Security Action Plan (WPS), the implementation of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act 2022 (Act 840), and the establishment of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Tribunal (TAGS) as examples of the MADANI Government’s commitment to combating violence against women.
In a statement, the organisation stated that Talian Kasih 15999, a helpline, received over 12,000 reports of violence against women till July of this year, emphasising the importance of decisive action and greater support mechanisms to safeguard victims.
The National Women’s Policy 2025-2030 focusses on four major areas: economy, leadership, security, and well-being. It includes specific strategies and outcome targets for regularly monitoring women’s development achievements.
The organisation of this programming is critical for strengthening women’s solidarity and networking, as well as encouraging their participation in the development agenda, hence promoting women’s empowerment.
Also present were the Director General of JPW, Hanani Sapit and senior officers of the Ministry’s Departments and Agencies.
