This year’s Ponderosa-YnD Charity Golf ‘Ping for Hope’, which was held on Saturday, 21st June 2025 at Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort, raised a total of RM160,000 for the Rotary Club of Kulai Haemodialysis Centre. The event was co-organised between the Young and Dangerous Golf Group and Ponderosa Golf, who have been holding yearly charity golf events in aid of different sections of the local community.
“The Ping for Hope is our yearly crusade for the community who are needy of financial help and we are very glad that once again, we have broken our previous records. As golfers and as we are part of a dedicated group, we come together not only for the love of playing golf but with the belief that we can make a difference,” said Joseph Cheng, this year’s Organising Chairperson. The dedication of the organising committee extends beyond their effort and actions. Their children were also involved in fund-raising on that day with the aim of exposing them to early lessons of charity and caring for others less fortunate than themselves.
A total of 98 players joined in the charity golf event this year. Well-meaning individual donors, as well as companies, also contributed to the success of the event by giving cash donations as well as sponsoring prizes.
“I wish to thank Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort for their full support in this event, being our co-organiser for the past 5 years. The Kulai Kidney Dialysis Centre incurs a monthly deficit of RM60,000 to RM70,000, with a large portion of this deficit attributed to administrative expenses. While costs escalate, the Centre has not raised its charges for patients, and all funds raised will help to subsidise much of the costs of running the centre,” said Cheng.
The cheque was handed to Teoh Siow Kee, the President of the Rotary Club of Kulai Foundation who was present at the Prize Presentation Dinner.
“On behalf of the Rotary Club of Kulai, I wish to express our deepest appreciation to the Young & Dangerous Golf Group for raising much-needed funds for the Dialysis Centre. Their efforts directly provide life-saving treatment to patients in need, and we are deeply grateful for their vital support,” said Teoh. Also present was Lau Ah Soo, the Chairman of the Kulai Haemodialysis Centre.
The Young & Dangerous Golf Group was formed in 2016 by a group of like-minded young golfers and “Ping for Hope” is the moniker created to brand the annual golf charity event, played for the benefit of education, cancer survivors, kidney dialysis patients and other sections of the Johor community and non-profit institutions.
