Bigo Live, a leading global livestreaming platform, has teamed up with Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK), a local non-governmental organisation (NGO), for a Hari Raya charity initiative aimed at supporting marginalised communities. The campaign, “Rise & Raise,” united Top 20 Bigo Live creators to participate in on-ground welfare pack distributions and an online fundraising drive on the Bigo Live platform, successfully raising RM10,000 for KSK’s beneficiaries.

While Hari Raya is a time of abundance and family gatherings, many homeless individuals and urban poor families face heightened isolation during the festive season. This partnership seeks to bridge that gap by delivering hot “Buka Puasa” meals, festive Raya hampers, and a sense of belonging to those in need.

Throughout the month of Ramadan and leading into the Syawal celebrations, Bigo Live users across Malaysia participated in a series of dedicated charity livestreams hosted by the top 10 Bigo Live creators. During these sessions, viewers could send exclusive Ramadan-themed virtual gifts within the app and a significant portion of proceeds donated directly to KSK. The funds raised will be channelled towards various initiatives, including hot meal distributions, food bank logistics such as the rescue and redistribution of surplus food to underprivileged families, and skills training programmes to promote long-term financial independence.

“At Bigo Live, we believe in the power of community, whether online or on the streets of Kuala Lumpur. Through our collective efforts with Kechara Soup Kitchen, we have turned digital engagement into real-world impact, extending our outreach to the local communities in need. We are grateful to all our creators who have joined us in sharing joy and dignity with those who need it the most,” said a Bigo Live Malaysia spokesperson.

“Bigo Live’s involvement in our food distributions throughout Kuala Lumpur, alongside their generous donation of RM10,000, is something we are deeply thankful for. This contribution is vital in enabling KSK to supply essential necessities, including food and medical aid, to homeless individuals and vulnerable families through our various programmes. It is particularly heartwarming to see the dynamic Bigo Live community offering not just financial support, but also festive cheer and genuine human connection to those we serve,” said Jien Howe Khong, a representative from Kechara Soup Kitchen.

In addition to the digital fundraising campaign, Bigo Live employees and top 20 creators rolled up their sleeves to join KSK’s teams on the ground, assisting in food preparation and street distributions across seven areas in Kuala Lumpur. Bigo Live creators also visited the Medan Tuanku Homeless Centre in Kuala Lumpur to directly provide food to the homeless and other vulnerable individuals.

Bigo Live remains dedicated to offering diverse opportunities for its creators to amplify their outreach and provide meaningful support to local communities through its interactive and secure digital platform. Launched in March 2016, the platform proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary this year as one of the world’s fastest-growing livestreaming social communities, where users broadcast in real-time to share life moments, showcase their talents, and interact with people from around the world.
