Ever since his mother passed away, Qadeem Shaher’s world turned upside down in a good way and in a bad way. All alone in a dark room with no one to talk to or to express anything to. He was homeless, jobless and was seen as a useless piece of trash who has no future. His life is filled with things that are just too painful to begin with, no words or vocals could ever voice them out. Writing was the only way for him to express his feelings and emotions.

In “Poetries Within Emotions: Written Purely From The Heart…” (published by Partridge Singapore), he writes down his feelings through poetic words of his own. The emotions of sadness, happiness and expressions of anger as well as gratefulness are cherished through every word of his poems.

“My book is relatively easy to relate to the topic of mental health awareness. It is different from the others because they do not follow the usual poetry, wherein the last words would rhyme. Another thing is that it is freer; it is able to express my emotion,” Shaher says.

When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, Shaher answers, “I hope the readers could at least adapt the understanding of being considerate and kind to one another despite our differences, because you can never know someone enough to know what they’re really going through.”

About the Author

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003, Qadeem Shaher now known as Qadeem Shaher Zieman is a singer-songwriter based in Malaysia. He is the son of an iconic award-winning journalist, Zieman (1961-2021). In 2022, while planning a comeback in the entertainment industry, he was advised by Malaysian singer and actress Betty Banafe to add his mother’s name ‘Zieman’ as his last name. He started his career as a kids-wear model at the age of 2, and at the age of 6, he began singing at a hotel lobby as a lounge singer where he performed evergreen classics nearly every evening. At an early age of 7, he had recorded his first studio album “7” but was retracted. Shaher made his official debut in late 2019, with a ballad version of the song “Mengapa” originally performed by a Malaysian rock band “LovingBorn” and his first own single “Pada Malam” in 2020, which will be re-released again this year (2022) in Malay and English as Qadeem Shaher Zieman.
