Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a string of subsidies including RM100 for every citizen under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme.

In the announcement, he said the aid is in conjunction with National Day on 31st August and is an immediate measure to ease the rising cost of living and a token of appreciation for the people.

The MADANI Government will implement five key measures for the well-being of the people.

Here are what that have been announced:

SARA (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) FOR ALL

RM100 for all Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above via MyKad. It is usable from 31st August to 31st December 2025.

It can be redeemed at over 4,100 participating outlets, including Mydin, Lotus’s, Econsave & 99Speedmart.

SARA (Scale & Impact)

Assistance would be given to individuals and not household-based. Which means, if a house has a husband and wife, with two adult children, the total amount they get would be RM400.

22 million Malaysians to benefit from the RM2 billion allocated for this very benefit.

Total STR & SARA support in 2025 increases to RM15 billion.

SARA (Trust & Compassion)

Those who are financially able may choose not to use the funds. Unused funds will be redistributed to vulnerable groups for next year.

A people-driven initiative based on national solidarity.

Additional Public Holiday on 15th September for Malaysia Day

Monday, 15th September 2025 was declared as an extra public holiday to celebrate unity and togetherness as well as to encourage balik kampung (homecoming) and domestic tourism.

MADANI Rahmah Sales

Allocation increased from RM300 million to RM600 million with wider coverage – reaching 600 locations nationwide.

More essential goods are offered at Rahmah (affordable) prices.

Toll Rates Maintained

No toll rate increases for 10 expressways this year – Including SDE, LPT2, SKVE, LLB & MEX.

Government absorbing over RM500 million in toll subsidies for the public:

*SDE- Senai-Desaru Expressway

LPT2 – East Coast Expressway Phase

SKVE – South Klang Valley Expressway

LLB – Butterworth Outer Ring Road

MEX – Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway

Targeted RON95 Fuel Subsidy

A restructured targeted subsidy system to protect ordinary citizens. RON95 price guaranteed to drop to RM1.99/litre. 18 million people will benefit, including youth and gig workers.

Electricity Bill Savings

Since July 2025, 85% of domestic users have seen a reduction in their electricity bills. Reductions of up to 14%.

Claims of rising bills are untrue.

Subsidies for Citizens Only

Foreign nationals to pay market prices, the aid are focused only on eligible Malaysians.

The MADANI Government reaffirms their commitment to the people.
