Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin stated that starting from 5th April 2021, recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine in Phase 2 will receive notifications 14 days before their appointment.

According to Khairy, the Ministry hopes all recipients will do their utmost to keep their appointments in order to prevent wasting the vaccine.

The second phase of the vaccine campaign will begin on 19th April and will target people aged 60 and up, as well as those with co-morbidities and disabilities (OKU).

After receiving notification of their appointments, recipients will be reminded twice via SMS and phone, according to Khairy, who added that recipients will still have the option to accept or reject their appointments.

“The first alert will be sent three days prior to the appointment, and the second will be sent one day prior to the appointment.” Attendance is compulsory.

It is vital to remember that all no-shows will result in wastage of vaccine.

The second phase will begin in Kedah, Melaka, Pahang, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, and Labuan, with the rest of the states following a few days later.
