Majestic Johor Festival 2023 Saw Over 650K Visitors in 9 Days

The second edition of this annual event exceeded Tourism Johor’s visitor target

The Majestic Johor Festival 2023 (MJF2023), which was organised by the State Government through Tourism Johor, officially ended on the evening of September 3rd, 2023, with 16 contingents marching and ending with a fireworks display as a symbolic closing of the festival, which was held for the second time.

The event, which was just in its second year, established an encouraging record with 651,000 people, exceeding Tourism Johor’s prior aim, and ran for nine days at Puteri Harbour in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

MJF2023 officially opened on 29th August 2023, with the Johor State Tourism Awards Ceremony, which was held to honour players in the tourism industry in the Johor by presenting Awards to 20 destinations, 9 organisations, and 6 initiatives.

Among the notable events during the festival were making an imprint in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the Biggest ‘Jalur Gemilang’ Vegetarian Cake that weighed 750kg, and the Majestic Johor Fun Ride that saw the involvement of 200 participants for a 21km ride.

According to the organisers, this year’s closing ceremony featured performances from Johor residents from all walks of life. The parade was held at night to provide a unique setting for festival attendees.

The 16 Contingents that were lined up during the event were the National High School Band (SMK) (P) Temenggong Ibrahim, SMK Paduka Tuan, SMK (P) Sultan Ibrahim Johor Bahru, Sultan Abu Bakar College, SMK Ledang and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RLDM).

Also participating were the 5th RAMD Regiment, JOH Johor, Edu Pro JPNJ, Indian Drums and Dances, Taman Johor Hong Yang Sports Association, Barongan Dance, Lipatist Group, Owners of Proton Vehicles, and local artists who also livened up the festival this time.

Raven Kumar Krishnasamy, Chairman of the Johor State Tourism, Environment, Heritage and Culture Committee, as the official representative of the Johor Menteri Besar, attended the closing ceremony accompanied by Suhairi Hashim, Johor Tourism Director, Puan Sri Datin Dr Hajah Noor Azizah Abdul Latif, Wife of the Johor Government Secretary, and Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (ADUN).
