GLC Demi Rakyat dan Negara (GDRN) has provied much-needed post-flood assistance to affected communities in Johor. With Aidilfitri around the corner, this RM1.2 million aid includes 3,850 family kits containing essential items such as electrical appliances and food supplies, helping families recover and prepare in time for the celebration.
Working closely with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), GDRN’s assistance will be distributed across the flood-affected areas of Johor Bahru, Pontian, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, and Batu Pahat.
This initiative results from the collaborative efforts of 11 contributing organisations, including CIMB Islamic, Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) [KWAP], Lembaga Tabung Haji, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, Maybank Group, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad, Yayasan Hasanah, Yayasan PETRONAS, Yayasan Sime Darby, and Yayasan TM.
Yayasan Hasanah, a foundation under Khazanah Nasional Berhad, along with Yayasan TM, serve as co-secretariat for the GDRN coalition.
“We hope this contribution brings some comfort and a sense of normalcy, while ensuring that affected families have what they need to celebrate Aidilfitri despite the challenges they’ve faced. In the spirit of Raya, we want to make sure no one is left behind, so they, too, can share in the joy of the season. This collaboration between GLCs and GLICs reflects our shared commitment to supporting communities in times of need,” said Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki, Trustee & Managing Director of Yayasan Hasanah.
This Johor mission is a collective effort in addition to the individual work that GDRN members – made up of 23 GLICs and GLCs – have already contributed during the monsoon season. As of 17th March 2025, GDRN members have contributed RM23.9 million in aid to support individuals and communities affected by the monsoon floods across Malaysia.
At its heart, this initiative is about standing with the people of Johor, ensuring they have the support they need to recover with dignity after yet another devastating flood during the northeast monsoon season. More than just providing essentials, GDRN members are coming together to show solidarity, care, and a shared commitment to helping communities rebuild.
“The GDRN Secretariat extends its heartfelt gratitude to all partners involved in this initiative and is deeply moved by the compassion and swift response shown by each contributing party. The unique strengths and resources of GLCs, alongside the dedication of our various partners, have made it possible to mobilise aid quickly and effectively, ensuring that those affected receive the support they need in this critical time,” added Ainol Shaharina Sahar, Director of Yayasan TM.
