In conjunction with Malaysia Day, Maxim Malaysia, in collaboration with the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), organised a tree planting initiative at Hutan Bandar MBJB to celebrate the spirit of unity while encouraging greater environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the local community.
The initiative brought together 12 Maxim partner drivers, who participated in the tree planting activity as part of Maxim Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the communities where it operates. The programme also reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to sustainable cities, environmental protection and climate action.
A variety of trees were planted during the programme, including two to two-and-a-half-metre Diospyros blancoi, as well as Ardisia and Eugenia glauca, each approximately 1.2 metres in height. The planting activity aims to contribute to the greenery of Hutan Bandar MBJB while supporting biodiversity and creating a healthier urban environment for the community.
The selection of tree species was advised by MBJB based on the suitability of the trees for the area and their role in maintaining a balanced urban ecosystem. By planting suitable species within Hutan Bandar MBJB, the initiative aims to complement the existing greenery and support a healthier and more sustainable environment for the local community.
“Malaysia Day is a meaningful occasion that brings Malaysians together, and we believe one way to celebrate it is by giving back to the community and environment around us. Through this tree planting programme with MBJB, our partner drivers were able to come together and contribute something meaningful to Johor Bahru. We hope this initiative will encourage more people to appreciate the importance of protecting our environment and creating greener spaces for future generations,” said Anas Kamaruddin, Head of Maxim Johor Bahru.
The collaboration with MBJB also highlights the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in promoting sustainable urban development. By involving its partner drivers directly in the initiative, Maxim Malaysia aims to strengthen its connection with local communities while encouraging everyday actions that can contribute to a more sustainable environment.
As Malaysia continues to progress, Maxim Malaysia believes that building a sustainable future requires collective participation from businesses, government agencies, communities and individuals. The company remains committed to supporting initiatives that create positive social and environmental impact across the communities it serves.
