Johor saw an encouraging increase in state revenue, reaching RM1 billion as of 30th April – up RM307 million from the same period last year.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Menteri Besar Johor, stated that the achievement puts the state government on a solid footing to continue protecting the people and implementing various development initiatives.

“The state government is on a solid track to continue to protect the people, alleviate the burden of high living costs, and ensure that every increase in revenue is returned to the people through high-impact initiatives,” he said in his remarks during the fifth sitting of the 15th Johor State Assembly in Kota Iskandar.

According to him, the performance was also aided by the state’s strong economic growth, with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rate that is among the highest in Malaysia.

In a similar development, the state government has set aside RM138 million for the implementation of Johor Love Aid (Bantuan Kasih Johor or BKJ) Phase 4, which is expected to benefit approximately 600,000 people in the state.

Datuk Onn Hafiz stated that the state government is also willing to consider appeals from individuals who have dropped out of receiving aid.

“If there is a dropout, the state government is ready to consider the appeal, and at the Johor ICT level, we are ensuring that the appeal is properly processed,” he stated.

He emphasised that the state government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of state revenue are directly reflected in the well-being of Johor residents.
