According to local reports, the Johor disaster management committee shared that all 356 flood victims who sought safety at three temporary relief centres (PPS) in Mersing, Johor have been permitted to return home.
The committee reports that on 20th December 2025, the three evacuation centres — SK Pusat Air Tawar, SJK(C) Chiao Ching, and SK Labong were closed.
According to a statement, “the technical department assessed the situation and found that floodwaters had fully receded, allowing the flood evacuees to return home.”
It further stated that as of noon, no new floods had been reported.
The committee went on, “The weather also appears bright in all ten districts in Johor.”
But according to Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman, head of the State Disaster Management committee, there have been reports that the water level in Sungai Muar in Buloh Kasap, Segamat, has surpassed the danger limit.
Following the district’s flooding on last Thursday, on 18th December 2025, it was previously reported that approximately 356 individuals from 93 families in Mersing had been evacuated to PPS.
Kg Baru Air Tawar, Kg Hubong, Kg Belukar Juling, Kg Semaloi, and Kg Orang Asli Labong were among the impacted localities.
