Tesla has officially opened its Supercharging station at Sunway Big Box in Johor.
The Johor Supercharging Station is the country’s second Supercharging station, following the recent opening of the Pavillion KL Station. The southernmost state’s station, features four superchargers, providing Tesla owners with a variety of charging options.
Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi who was present during the opening was pleased that Tesla has chosen Johor to open their second Supercharger System site at Sunway Big Box Retail Park, Iskandar Puteri.
“The State Government always supports the initiative of the Federal Government, in an effort to preserve the environment through the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Global Leader scheme. This is also believed to be able to attract more tourists and new investors to Johor, especially Tesla users in Singapore,” he said.
The site is equipped with 4 Super Charger stations, with a charging capacity of 250 kWDC, which is able to charge 120KM in just 5 minutes and provides 3 Tesla Wall Connectors (Wall Connector), with a charging capacity of 22kWAC, i.e. charging 70KM for an hour.
Also present were the Chairman of the Johor State Investment, Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee, Lee Ting Han; Stulang assemblyman and Johor State Assembly chief balancer, Andrew Chen Kah Eng; Tesla Regional Director, Isabel Fan; Director of Industrial Operations Department, Energy Commission, Tuan Mohd Elmi Anas; Executive Director, Invest Johor, YM Ungku Suzana Ungku Mohammad; Director, MITI Johor, MMarhani Md Jelani; Director, MIDA Johor, Shahzul Jayawirawan Mohd Yunus; and Chief Executive Officer, Sunway Mall & Theme Parks, HC Chan.
With the opening of this supercharging station, Tesla owners in both Malaysia and Singapore will be able to take cross-country road trips while charging in a seamless and fast manner.
