DayOne announced an additional RM15 billion in funding on 13th October 2026, to further expand its hyperscale data centre operations in Johor. This raises the overall amount of funding for its Johor platform to almost RM30 billion.

Seven major financial institutions, namely CIMB, Maybank, DBS, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered, and Crédit Agricole are supporting the most recent funding.

As artificial intelligence and other digital technologies continue to develop globally, there is an increasing need for data storage, cloud services, and processing power, which is reflected in the investment.

Hyperscale data centres are essential to this change. They supply the infrastructure and processing capacity needed by multinational corporations, AI-powered services, and technological startups.

Johor is appealing for these initiatives due to a number of factors, such as its close proximity to Singapore, well-established industrial networks, and expanding cross-border economic ties.

In addition to infrastructural investment, the expansion may provide opportunities for local enterprises and people. Electrical and mechanical engineering, network operations, cybersecurity, building, technical maintenance, and data centre management are examples of possible jobs. Future project activity may also benefit nearby contractors, equipment suppliers, and supporting service providers.

It is important to note that the RM30 billion figure refers to financing arrangements, rather than money already spent on completed developments. The scale and timing of actual construction will depend on how the projects are implemented.

This achievement underscores Johor state’s potential importance in the regional and global digital economy.

Johor has the ability to strengthen its digital ecosystem and generate long-term economic advantages for its residents with sustained investment, skill development, and commercial possibilities.
