Kummute, the mobility app developed by Kumpool Sdn Bhd (Malaysia) and Kumpool Singapore Pte Ltd, in collaboration with the cross-border taxi associations in Malaysia and Singapore, has announced the official launch of its digital cross-border taxi booking service, making it the first app-based solution enabling seamless licensed taxi rides between Malaysia and Singapore.
This initiative strengthens connectivity to support the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and aligns with broader efforts to integrate transport infrastructure across the Causeway.
Commuters can now book licensed cross-border taxis through the Kummute app safely, reliably, and transparently bridging last-mile gaps in cross-border journeys.
Key Benefits of Kummute Cross-Border Taxi Booking:
○ App-based convenience: Book in advance or on demand.
○ Licensed, legal & reliable drivers: All taxis are registered cross-border licensed operators.
○ Transparent fares: Choose between Malaysia/Singapore cross-border taxis, and see your fare upfront.
○ Cashless payments: Secure in-app transactions.
Regulatory Compliance
Under current regulations, Malaysian-licensed cross-border taxis may pick up passengers anywhere in Malaysia but must drop off at Ban San Street Terminal in Singapore; Singapore-licensed cross-border taxis may pick up anywhere in Singapore but must drop off at Larkin Sentral, Johor Bahru.
Kummute digitises the booking layer, ensuring compliance while providing greater mobility options in support of cross-border travel and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Phased Launch Approach
To ensure a smooth and reliable experience for commuters across both sides of the Causeway, Kummute is rolling out its digital cross-border taxi booking service in phases:
○ Phase 1 (from 30th September 2025): Full launch with bookings available from both Malaysia (MYR payments) and Singapore (SGD payments). Commuters can book rides with licensed cross-border taxis in either direction — from Malaysia into Singapore or from Singapore into Johor Bahru.
○ Phase 2: Additional features and innovations will be rolled out to further elevate the cross-border journey, with details to be announced in due course.
This phased approach allows Kummute to deliver immediate benefits to commuters while progressively expanding features, ensuring the highest standards of reliability, compliance, and user satisfaction.
Kummute, powered by Kumpool, is a mobility platform that provides commuters with affordable and reliable shared transport solutions. Initially launched in 2021 as Malaysia’s first Bus-on-Demand (BoD) / Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) service, Kummute has since expanded into deliveries, and now, cross-border taxi operations.
With the introduction of its Digital Cross-Border (CB) Taxi Booking Service, Kummute not only simplifies everyday travel but also strengthens connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore—helping to unlock greater accessibility, drive economic activity, and support the ambitions of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and beyond.
