Johor Ends Nine-Year Wait For Agong’s Cup With Comeback Win Over Terengganu

Johor defeated Terengganu 34-26 in the final of the 42nd edition of the prestigious rugby tournament at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Stadium, ending a nine-year wait for the Agong’s Cup.

 

Terengganu led 19-17 at halftime, but Johor staged a strong comeback to win the trophy for the first time since 2017.

Johor won the Agong’s Cup for the third time, having previously won it in 2013.

In the third-place playoff, Kelantan has defeated Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) 43-41.

Johor won RM20,000 in prize money, followed by Terengganu, Kelantan, and PDRM.

Johor’s Aqasha Daniel Irwan was named tournament MVP, receiving RM1,000 in cash and a plaque.

Johor Rugby Union will be hosting a 7s challenge for both men and women categories at Mount Austin’s Johor Rugby Stadium from 3-5 July 2026.
