Following the state government delegation’s recent visit to Shanghai, China, Johor has successfully attracted the interest of 36 global investors, with a potential initial commitment of RM10 billion.

Lee Ting Han, EXCO of State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Human Resources, stated that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.

He also mentioned that the delegation had a strategic engagement session with over 150 high-potential investors, including business owners and top-level decision-makers.

“36 companies have expressed initial commitments or strong interest in investing in Johor, demonstrating that despite the challenging global economic environment, Johor remains relevant and attractive.

“More significantly, initial investment commitments are expected to reach around RM10 billion, with a focus on strategic sectors such as electrical and electronics (E&E), battery technology, aerospace, automotive, and high-tech manufacturing,” he said at the 15th Johor State Assembly in Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri.

Last year, Johor recorded RM110 billion in approved investments, demonstrating the effectiveness of the state’s economic development strategy.

The investments are expected to increase the number of high-skilled job opportunities and allow local small and medium-sized businesses to enter the industrial supply chain.
