Ihsan Johor Help Accelerate State’s Aspiration to Plant 4 Million Trees Come 2025

The NGO’s ‘Adopt a Tree’ programme also raised awareness among the locals in maintaining sustainability

Iskandar Malaysia Social Heroes Awards (IMSHA) winner, Ihsan Johor, has managed to add another 20 trees in Johor with a target to plant 4 million trees by 2025 through their ‘Adopt A Tree’ Programme with Johor Forestry Department, Redone Network and Belia Kampung Pendas Baru.

The tree planting activities took place at the mangrove area in Kampung Pendas Baru, Gelang Patah, Johor.

A total of 25 volunteers came together to plant 20 mangrove propagules, making it to 120 trees and adopted under Ihsan Johor’s programme in 2022.

“We are looking at adding another 400 trees in 2023,” said CEO of Ihsan Johor, Farrah Faridah Baptist in a statement.

“We took a picture and did 4 figure fingers because we want to help Johor reach 4 million trees as a target for our state and 100 million trees planting under the Federal initiative by 2025,” Farrah explained further.

Joining the replanting programme was Mohamad Shahril bin Zulkifli, Johor Forestry (Southern District) Assistant Officer.

Under the Federal’s Greening Malaysia Programme, a total of 100 million trees are aimed to be replanted in a 5 year campaign starting from 2021 until 2025.

The Johor Forestry Department hopes to have planted four million timber trees around the state with help from the general public.

According to Farrah, currently, the state has achieved 20% of the tree planting target.
