Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Tan Sri Dato ‘Haji Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin has launched the Johor Sustainable Development Plan (PPMJ) 2030, a holistic plan comprising numerous measures and strategies to achieve Johor’s economic growth, on 6th December 2020 with Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Mohammad, and the Johor State Secretary, Dato’ Haji Azmi Rohani present.
What is PPMJ 2030?
PPMJ 2030 is a 10-year plan that is driven and monitored to give priority to economic growth and environmental protection for people’s well-being and prosperity.
It is anticipated that the plan will be able to push the state’s economy to remain sustainable and creative, as well as to highlight facets of science, technology and digital covering the whole state and different walks of life.
The plan also focuses on efforts to improve government administration, as well as on environmental protection programmes, infrastructure empowerment and a variety of related measures.
The 3 Key Objectives
Through the Vision of Shared Prosperity 2030 (WKB2030), the content of PPMJ 2030 is in line with the numerous initiatives outlined by the Federal Government by proposing three key objectives, namely economic sustainability, physical sustainability and social sustainability, all backed by eight main thrusts.
The Federal Government and the Johor State Government have come together to address a range of issues, including low-value economic chains, economic disparities between ethnic groups, income groups and regions, increased foreign equity and the Bumiputera agenda.
These initiatives also involve the availability, in the face of the technological boom, of economic and human resources.
“I am confident a paradigm shift can be made in charting a sterling future for Johor in the next decade to make Johor a high performing state, and it fits well with the concept we bring which is Makmur Johor (Prosper Johor),” said Hasni during his closing speech at the State Assembly sitting, before the launch of the book.
