Toppen Shopping Centre has launched a groundbreaking ceremony for its retailtainment space popularised as lifestyle RoofTop. Officiated by Adrian Mirea, the Shopping Centre and Mixed-Used Director, IKEA Southeast Asia, the ceremony introduces the space that will be built as a nine-storey structure which will provide more parking spaces as well as retail mix at the top two floors.

Promising seamless experience for families, the RoofTopp is said to be boasting 617,000sqft car park space with 1,600 parking bays and will integrate Toppen, IKEA Tebrau and the surrounding areas.

The new space also corresponds to the new habits, new normal and lifestyles post COVID-19 pandemic taking into account on the need for social distancing by providing space to further evenly distribute visitors and allow tenants to create their own crowd.

Mirea in his speech said that Toppen would like to not just take but also to give back to the community. By offering more parking spaces, this would minimise time to park vehicles and optimise the time spent in the mall.

Mathew Guilford, Project Manager, IKEA Southeast Asia said the project will commence in May 2021 and is expected to be completed by Q3 2022. Incorporating sustainability practises, the project will minimise carbon footprint as much as possible by commencing seven local contractors.

Vasilisa Kuznetsova, Centre Manager of Toppen Shopping Centre mentioned the 86-metre elevated pedestrian bridge announced back in October 2020 now allows visitors from Toppen and neighbouring retail complex like AEON Tebrau to travel safely between the two destinations, providing an ease of accessibility to go by foot.
