The Gemas–Johor Bahru Electric Double Track (EDTP) Completion & Operation Ceremony was held on 11th December 2025 at Kuala Lumpur Station and Kempas Baru Station.
The ceremony was officiated by the Regent of Johor, HRH Tunku Mahkota Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim and attended by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of Transport, Loke Siew Fook, and Johor Menteri Besar, Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
Also present were Transport Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Johor State Secretary Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman and SIPP-YTL JV Managing Director Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong.
While at the train station, Tunku Mahkota Ismail visited the Gallery Walk, which displays information about the project as well as the background and facts of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).

The KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3), which completed the extension of the route that had previously ended in Kluang, officially began with the inauguration.
The ETS3 for the southern route, which includes the KL Sentral-Kluang line, began operation in August and was inaugurated by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
According to a Transport Ministry, the Gemas-Johor Bahru Electrified Double-Tracking Line, which stretches 192 kilometres, was developed by SIPP-YTL JV as the principal local subcontractor.
The project completely transforms Johor’s railway route, building 11 new stations meant to reflect the state’s culture and legacy and connecting the four major districts – Segamat, Kluang, Kulai and Johor Bahru – before concluding at JB Sentral.
This large-scale national project is being carried out through a strategic collaboration between three important entities: the Transport Ministry as policy leader, KTMB as rail service operator, and the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) as set owner and integrated development driver.
In conjunction with the launch of the ETS3 service to JB Sentral, KTMB is providing a special 30% discount on prices before terminating at JB Sentral.
A total of 5,000 promotional codes are available, subject to limitations and conditions.

Passengers can take advantage of the offer by entering the JBBEST promotion code while purchasing tickets through the KITS Style application, official KTMB website, or KTMB kiosk.
With the completion of the electric train line from Padang Besar to Johor Bahru, the national rail system is entering a new era of modernisation, sustainability, and a significant influence on people.
This implementation opens up more comfortable, efficient and safe public mobility options, providing better long-distance travel alternatives for Malaysians.
KTMB in its statement said “In conjunction with the end-of-year school holiday season, KTMB welcomes the people of Johor and the entire country to experience this new travel experience. Plan your trip and buy tickets in advance!”
