KPJ Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital (KPJ Pasir Gudang) has launched its Private Hospital Vaccine Centre (PPVHS) through the second phase of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) prioritising high-risk individuals and the elderly.
“The hospital is ready to help in any way to ensure that Malaysia is free from COVID-19 so all walks of life can carry out activities as we were used to in the pre-new normal,” said the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Hazarul Azly Hamzah.
As a measure to improve the vaccination process, KPJ Pasir Gudang also provides a guided vaccination facility to launch the vaccination process specifically for those with comorbidities, stroke patients or people with disabilities (OKU) while also complying with every Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) that has been set by the ministry.
“Every day, members on duty will make phone calls to vaccine recipients who have not confirmed their arrival through the MySejatera application and we offer a drive-thru service to those who have difficulties in walking or moving.”
“Vaccine recipients will have to remain in their respective cars and our staff will administer the vaccine,” stated Hazarul. The process only takes 15 to 30 minutes, including monitoring after the injection, and 25 staff members including nurses, pharmacists and experienced support personnel, have been allocated for this purpose to avoid any complications and ensure that the immunisation process goes well.
PPVHS KPJ Pasir Gudang is open from Monday to Friday from 7th June. The facility receives 100 vaccination recipients every day and has immunised 1,180 individuals to date.
Hazarul also stated that the hospital is willing to assist the State Health Department (JKN) in visiting the homes of vaccine recipients who are unable to travel to PPV for various reasons.
Most of the vaccine recipients expressed relief when the vaccination process carried out at KPJ Pasir Gudang went smoothly and they were satisfied with the information provided by the hospital staff, especially involving information on the side effects of the vaccine.
All appointments and vaccine registrations at every KPJ Hospital PPVs are made through the MySejahtera app, and all appointments and vaccination registrations are notified through the app. Individuals who do not have an appointment are not advised to attend.
