Persatuan Doktor-Doktor Johor of The Newcastle University Student Alliance (PDDJ NUSA) in collaboration with Persatuan Doktor-Doktor Johor (PDDJ) recently had organised a yoga fundraiser and a COVID-19 fundraiser to show their support to frontline health workers fighting COVID-19.
All donations from the yoga and COVID-19 fundraiser will be used to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and will be channelled to the local hospitals. Approximately RM15,000 has been raised in over 2 weeks from these two fundraisers.
On 26th February 2021, the two unions jointly coordinated a donation of RM10,000 by Chan Moi on behalf of her late mother, Sim Wai Kee, as a form of gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim, Kulai and Klinik Kesihatan Kulai (Kulai Health Clinic) for taking care of her late mother.
On top of that, PDDJ and PDDJ NUSA also handed over 5000 pieces of masks, 350 pieces of surgical clothing, 4000 pieces of OT caps, 6000 pairs of gloves and 100 pieces of coverall to the aforementioned hospital and clinic.
Dr Noorraudah Binti Abd. Rahman, Director of Temenggong Hospital Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim, Kulai, Dr Ng Kim Fong, PDDJ President, Tan Ping May, PDDJ NUSA President, Grace King Hui En, PDDJ NUSA Secretary and Chan Moi were present at the ceremony.
With the amount of money raised from the fundraiser, PDDJ NUSA and PDDJ will also donate medical equipment such as a blood pressure machine, glucometer and oximeter to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), Johor. Any further updates on the donation would be made through their social media.
