According to Menteri Besar Johor, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Coronation Square is anticipated to produce about RM9bil in economic spin-offs and create about 60,000 employments, in line with the state government’s Maju Johor 2030 goal.
“The real economic advantages that these kinds of advances offer to our state are especially exciting,” said Onn Hafiz.
According to him, the Coronation Square will provide jobs in a variety of industries from construction to operations.
“I believe Coronation Square will eventually create up to 60,000 jobs and generate more than RM9bil in economic spin-offs,” he stated during the Coronation Square Mall’s groundbreaking ceremony on 7th May 2026.
Onn Hafiz stated that the Coronation Square project is essential for its three main functions, one of which is to shape and revitalize the Johor Bahru city centre.
He added, “It also has a significant and inclusive economic impact while reinforcing both our cross-border and public connectivity.”
Singapore’s Consul-General in Johor Bahru, Ng Kuan Khai and Johor Economic and Investment Advisor Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad were also in attendance.
A major component of Coronation Square, in the heart of the city’s Ibrahim International Business District (IIBD), is the new shopping mall, which is anticipated to be completed in 2029.
The eight-tower project for Coronation Square, which includes upscale offices, a fully sold residential component, a hospital, and a hotel, will be anchored by the 1.25 million square foot mall.
