Aiding working women with incentives and in-house nursery
In line with Mother’s Day on 12th May 2019, Exco Liow Cai Tung of Tourism and Women, Family and Community Development and her team gifted carnations to mothers at Johor Jaya and Taman Molek wet market. Liow also announced a few state governments’ effort in women development.
As an effort to ease the burden of families with the cost of living, the government took some initiatives to help the mothers with Insentif Suri Rumah i-Suri, officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to create a secured, social network foundation for housewives.
Accumulated number of registered i-Suri users as of March 2019 for the entire Malaysia is 97,814 people. Johor has the lowest number of registered users among other states with only 3,238 registered users. MARI (Mesra, Aktiviti, Riadah dan Informatif) Roadshow Programme was created to introduce and promote the aid and services available in government’s department, which includes i-Suri by KWSP to help people get information to cater to their need.
Moreover, the Johor state government will aid women by providing nursing room for female civil servants at Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru. The launch of the room took place at Bangunan Dato’ Mohamad Ibrahim Munsyi, on 16th May 2019 and officiated by Yang Mulia Che’ Puan Khaleeda Binti Bustamam.
Further aid for working mothers will be a nursery namely YPKDT (Yayasan Pembangunan Keluarga Darul Ta’zim) which is currently under construction at Kota Iskandar too. The nursery would be made available in every administrative government at all districts in the near future starting with Pontian and Batu Pahat’s government administrative offices.
The state government is hopeful that with these programmes, it will encourage and help mothers manage families and also to overcome challenges.
