Castrol Malaysia and Cove Circuit are bringing the “Castrol Unleashed Youth Sim Racing Championship” back for a second season, offering aspiring racers in Malaysia an opportunity to experience motorsport and hone their racing skills even further. Registrations are now open ahead of the championship’s qualifying sessions in October and the Grand Finale at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in November.
Open to eligible youths in Malaysia aged 18 to 24 years, Castrol Unleashed combines Cove Circuit’s grassroots sim racing platform with Castrol’s longstanding association with motorsport to create a more accessible entry point into racing. Season 2 will have a Male Youth and Female Youth competition, alongside development opportunities that support racers as they progress from their first laps to increasingly competitive racing. Castrol’s longstanding presence in motorsport is defined by successful partnerships that have delivered race wins, championship titles and historic moments on the track.

More than 400 young aspiring racers and 4,000 members of the public took part in the programme’s first season, reflecting the growing interest in more accessible ways to experience competitive racing. Season 2 builds on that momentum through the Castrol Unleashed Masterclass Series powered by TGR Malaysia, with approximately 13 online sessions covering racecraft, telemetry, lap techniques and the cars and circuits featured throughout the championship. The focus on understanding performance, finding improvements and applying them under pressure also mirrors the performance-led thinking behind Castrol EDGE.
Racers are putting their skills to the test through Time Attack qualifying sessions at Cove Circuit Cyberjaya on 10th and 11th October and Cove Circuit Bandar Sunway on 17th and 18th October. The first round of qualifiers at Cove Circuit Cyberjaya was completely sold out, reflecting strong interest in the championship and the growing appeal of competitive sim racing among young Malaysians. Participants can register for up to two qualifier slots via unleashedsimracing.com for RM10, while those looking to sharpen their skills can practise at Cove Circuit using the same simulator hardware featured in the championship.
With another round of qualifiers taking place this week, the top 20 leaderboard in each division remains subject to change as racers compete to secure their places at the Grand Finale. While several competitors have already posted times that have put them among the favourites, the championship’s top five contenders will be revealed as the competition progresses, building anticipation ahead of the final showdown at 1 Utama Shopping Centre from 13th to 15th November. The fastest 20 racers from each division will earn their place at the Grand Finale, where the top 10 in each division will compete for cash prizes, including RM6,000 for the Male Youth champion and RM3,000 for the Female Youth champion.
