In an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic with the upcoming vaccines, Teleport, the logistics venture of AirAsia Digital, has been appointed by Utama Multimodal Logistics Sdn Bhd (UML), a cold chain logistics services company focused on transporting pharmaceuticals, to deliver future vaccines arriving in Kuala Lumpur to East Malaysia.
Leveraging on AirAsia’s wide network in East Malaysia, Teleport will help UML with deliveries of all future vaccines to both Sabah and Sarawak areas which are Sandakan, Labuan, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu. These vaccines will be accorded as priority shipments on all AirAsia flights.
Teleport CEO Pete Chareonwongsak said, “Ever since the first news of the vaccines broke out, Teleport has been gearing up our capabilities to transport them. Transporting pharmaceutical shipments requires the utmost care and precision with time and temperature being the most crucial elements. With compliance to IATA Temperature Control Regulations and industry best practices, we have built up a strong, reliable infrastructure to ensure the shipment always stays within the stipulated temperature range. One of our greatest achievements from this to date was delivering medical samples in just under 8 hours from a clinic in Kota Kinabalu to a laboratory in Klang.”
“The vaccination process has begun but the fight to end this pandemic is far from over. We will continuously do our best by providing the highest level of service possible to the healthcare industry, not only in delivering vaccines but also other pharmaceutical items that are needed in the future. We are very pleased to be working with UML and this is only the start of a great long term partnership,” Pete continued.
Managing Director of UML Nizam Ariff said, “We are very excited to partner with Teleport to help deliver future vaccines from Kuala Lumpur to East Malaysia cities in Sabah and Sarawak respectively. With AirAsia’s strong network both domestically in Malaysia and throughout Asia along with Teleport’s precision and efficiency in fast deliveries, we are certain that this partnership will take off smoothly and effectively.”
Teleport will be conducting both the air freight delivery followed by the on-ground transportation for the future vaccines once landed in the respective parts of East Malaysia.
