Ponderosa Golf and Country Resort welcomes this fasting season with a double offer for everyone – eat and do charity.
When I arrived at Cafe@Ponderosa for their fasting month’s buffet preview, the first thing I saw was the long table of food right in the centre and the adorable, red and white striped roof stalls to house their live-cooking section ala European food fair.
The fun in this buffet is to mix and match easily with anything and everything. Without further ado, I took a plate full of the Chef’s special Bahraini Machboos rice set, some fresh and crunchy Ulam to accompany the tender Beef Ginger and Spring Onion to start off.
I have always loved the tasty, sweet and spicy, Egg Sambal here as it acts as a perfect, spicy addition on my plate. My friend was more interested to try a medley of flavours, and he took a little bit of jasmine white rice, Machboos rice and chicken rice altogether on his plate to eat with the Smoky, freshly-Roasted Lamb pieces, Ayam Berempah, and a some Creamy, Deep Fried Crab with Salted Egg Sauce! Meanwhile, his wife chose Muar’s specialty of Bandung noodles and some delicious Chicken Satay.
Our favourite just had to be the local desserts and various kinds of jellies that are perfect to share with little children. The refreshing Sweet Mango Yoghurt drink that I tried at the end of my buffet experience could be your favourite too to break the fast as it is nutritious, gentle on your empty stomach and doubles as an appetiser.
At the price of RM88+ per adult and RM48+ per child age 5-11 years old and senior citizen of 60 years old and above, I can see myself bringing the whole office and extended families to the buffet which is spacious and has a free car park.
What is even better, Ponderosa is organising charitable activities that guests could participate in to help people during this Ramadan month. The 4 weeks of Caring and Sharing starts from 24 March to 31 March people can sponsor an orphan living in remote areas to have a fun day out. Next, Blanket of Joy comes in week two from 1 to 7 April, where blankets made up of cotton patches priced at RM15 each will be donated to an orphan. In Week 3, from 8 to 14 April, we can have our little ones empathise with the orphans by writing a greeting card to them. Finally, for Malam 7 Likur or the final week from 15 to 20 April, enjoy lighting up lamps or ‘pelita’ just like in the olden days, with family and friends.
