Sunway wins Putra Malaysian Marketer of the Year, Gold in Education and Learning Category as well as Silver in Property Development and Entertainment categories at the Putra Brand Awards 2019
Sunway Group emerged as the biggest winner, winning four accolades at Putra Brand Awards 2019. Sunway was named “Putra Malaysian Marketer of the Year,” the highest recognition in this people’s choice award.
In addition, Sunway Group also took home three category awards, with Sunway University, bagging gold in the Education and Learning Category, Sunway Berhad, winning silver in the Property Development Category and Sunway Lagoon, receiving silver in the Entertainment Category.
The “Putra Malaysian Marketer of the Year” recognises a Malaysian company, a marketing team, or an individual who has demonstrated overall excellence in marketing and those who have consistently and relentlessly championed innovation and creativity in building their brand. It acknowledges marketers who have challenged the strategies in the market and who have exhibited results, creativity, and overall marketing achievement.

Putra Brand Awards was launched in 2010 by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), in association with the Malaysia’s Most Valuable Brands (MMVB). Endorsed by MATRADE as the Brand Champion Partner and supported by the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA), and the Media Specialists Association (MSA) and the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), the awards aim to recognise brands that connect with consumers through performance, top-of-mind recall, and support, while highlighting High Value Ideas contributed towards a brand’s success.
Putra Brand Awards 2019 utilises a robust consumer research methodology, originally developed by IQ LeanLab, to engage with a minimum of 6,000 consumers in Malaysia to determine Malaysia’s favourite brands within multiple categories. Consumer responses are captured directly by research company, Ipsos and compiled for endorsement by the Board. Survey respondents rate the brands based on their impression of the brand, their intent to purchase the products of the brand and their forced-choice brand and brands they would recommend to friends and families.
